Inch Rovers 1-05 Carrigtwohill 0-03
Inch Rovers took the U-16 “D” East Cork title when they defeated Carrigtwohill in the championship final played in Killeagh on Friday night last on the coldest autumn evening so far this year. With the frost on the ground Carrigtwohill came to Killeagh hoping to do the double but it was the Inch girls who were the slicker outfit on the night. Both sides gave us a great hour of end to end exciting football with all the girls giving it their all. Inch led at half time by three points to one despite the fact that Carrig had the majority of the play in the first half. The two sides played a defensive game in the second period which meant both full back lines were on top and a lot of the play was around the middle of the field with scores hard to come by. Inch did manage to penetrate the Carrig back line to score the only goal of the game almost on the stroke of full time to leave them deserving winners on a score line 1-05 to 0-03. Tom Goggin chairman of the East Cork Ladies Football board had the honour of presenting the cup to one of his own Laura Leahy captain of Inch Rovers.
