Aghada Ladies Take Minor East Cork Title

Aghada 4-12  Rockbán 0-9

Aghada U-18 Ladies won the East Cork Minor Ladies Football “C” East Cork final when they defeated Rockbán on Sunday week in Rathpeacon. Almost from the outset Aghada laid down a marker when they had the ball in the oppositions net from the boot of Clair Coughlin in the opening two minutes. Rockbán hit back with two well taken points but after that the Aghada girls clicked into gear, playing as a unit and powered on by Hannah Looney and Hannah Rose at mid field they worked the ball up the field and finished with pin point accuracy time after time. Coughlin, Looney and Sorcha Phelan added goals to leave Rockbán fighting an uphill battle but to their credit never gave up and had a lot of the play in the second period. Top marks must go to Caoimhe Robinson in goals, and the entire back line who stood steadfast and forced the opposition to shoot from distance and did not concede a goal. Aghada forwards also played a lovely style of football passing the ball to each other with great flair. Aghada ran out easy winners on a shoreline 4-12 to 0-9.
