Junior Football

Aghada 4-14       Bride Rovers B 2-6

We lost out to a strong Aghada side, backboned by Cork standard players, in the semi-final of the East Cork Junior B championship last Monday in Rostellan. Our girls were far from disgraced though and put up a fantastic display to post a very decent score on the night and indeed could easily have finished a bit closer. The warm conditions were energy sapping but the level of fitness of the players was quite high and they are to be given every credit for that as they kept up the pace right to the end. Finally, I don’t normally comment on playing surfaces but the pitch in Aghada was remarkably good and a credit to the grounds staff down there. Best of luck to Aghada in the final where they will surely be hard to beat.

Senior/Junior Football

Preparation for upcoming county championships continue this week with a challenge game at Carrigtwohill on Thursday night at 8pm.

U21 Football

Both Dromtarriffe and Beara pulled out of the competition in the last week leaving our U21 footballers with no match yet. They are now scheduled to play Kinsale in a county semi-final , probably on or before Tuesday, July 16.

Minor Football

The 2013 league kicks off shortly with a scheduled opening fixture against Carrigtwohill. Five matches in total are planned.

U15 Football

We entered the summer U15 competition again this year and 3 matches are now scheduled over the coming weeks, against Aghada, Glanmire and Fermoy.

 

Condolences to the Ryan family on their recent bereavement, Fr Liam Ryan, Rathcormac and Banteer who passed away recently. Ar dheis De go raibh a anam dilis.

Many thanks to everyone who supported the recent walk which also raised badly needed funds for the Mercy Hospital Foundation.

Well done to the Club’s senior hurlers who defeated Ballinhassig in the championship, putting in a superb performance in the process. Unfortunately, a couple of injuries were suffered which will keep players out of action and we wish them a speedy recovery and to see them back on the pitch soon.

Finally, everyone at the club would sincerely like to wish Shirley all the best and a swift recovery.
