East Cork Girls Shine as
Cork U-14 girls take All Ireland Title
Cork 3-15 Kildare 1-06
Well done and congratulations to all of the East Cork Girls who were part of the Cork panel who won the All Ireland U-14 Ladies Football title when they beat Kildare on Saturday last. It was a fitting end to what has been a great year and a large crowd of supporters for the Imokilly division travelled to Templemore. They beat Kerry in the first round and Waterford in Munster Semi final but it took two hours of football to overcome Kerry in the Munster final. The Connaught champions Galway were there opponents in the semi final and finally Kildare last Saturday.
The Lilly Whites put up a great performance and frustrated the Cork girls with their defensive style and it was only in the last few minutes that Rebelettes pulled away. Captain of Cork was Grace Culloty from the Bride Rovers club was once again outstanding in both her leadership and accurate free taking. Kate Hannon from the Glanmire club was tireless in her work rate and was awarded the player of the match and the introduction of Christine Moran from the Aghada club in the second half was pivotal with her pin point accuracy and passing to the inside forward line who sealed the victory with great scores
Well done to all the East Cork girls, some who played in earlier rounds and all who played when Cork retained the All Ireland Blitz title in Mullingar earlier in the year
