Fermoy GAA Ladies Football U-16 – East Cork “A” League

Fermoy played Glanmire at Buckleary’s Cross,Glanmire on Monday last at 5pm. It was a very cold brisk afternoon that made playing football difficult. Fermoy started brightly, quickly notching up a goal from the boot of Isobel Pyne. Theresa o Donoghue added two beautifully taken points, one from play and the other from a free kick. Glanmire made some breaks into the Fermoy half and were unluckly not to have found the back of the net on one occasion. The Fermoy backs did some great defending to keep Glanmire scoreless. Fermoy put 4 more points on the scoreboard before half time with some great points from Isobel Pyne and Theresa O’Donoghue.  Fermoy led 1-6 to 0-0 at half time.

Glanmire started the second half with great intensity. They put the Fermoy back line under pressure from the start and quickly scored two points. Fermoy made several attacks on the Glanmire goal but Glanmire defended brilliantly and did not give Fermoy any opportunity to get scores. Glanmire on the other hand always looked dangerous going forward. The Fermoy backline managed to keep Glanmire from scoring goals but were unable to spot them from getting some great points. Fermoy only managed to score a single point from a free in the second half. The game ended Fermoy 1-7 Glanmire 0-5.

Well done to both teams for braving the elements and playing some great football. All players were glad to get off the pitch away from the freezing cold.
