U-12’s

Our U12 tigers played there first league game on Saturday away to Aghada. The girls gave a great display on the day and from 1 to 15 got stuck in and gave everything. The game was very hard against a very physical Aghada. We had a lot of possession of the ball and cleared well from our own line.

The defence stood strong and we held Aghada to a point in the first half. The second half began like the first and we had a lot of possession of the ball and scored some great points. Aghada got a few scores and we again broke up the field and were denied by there cross bar and again by there keeper. Tiredness created the space and Aghada got 2 quick goals.
Even though in the end the girls got beaten they showed great determination to the end. From one to fifteen were outstanding and gave a great display on the day. Final score 3.5 to 0.5

The  girls played a challenge match against Brian Borus on Saturday in Fermoy and came away with a well deserved ten points to three points win. Played in cold but dry conditions Brian Borus had our defence under pressure and would lead at the break by a point, however the second half was a different story with Fermoy moving up a gear and with accurate passing and support play the girls tagged on a number of great points to record a deserved win.

 U14 Blitz

On Bank Holiday Monday last we travelled to Galbally to take part in a four team blitz. In our first game Aherlow provided the opposition. The girls got off to a great start picking off points that gave them a four point head at the break. A goal by Eve after the break plus four more well taken points gave the girls a deserved win.
Our second game was against another Tipp team Lattin Cullen again the girls were in control of this game scoring a healthy 2-2 in the first half and 3-3 in the second half to give them their second win of the day.
The third game was against Monaleen of Limerick who had won both of their games previous to this, however they couldn’t contain Fermoy’s speed, accurate passing, support play and scoring ability. An enjoyable day out was had by all and thanks to Aherlow who hosted the blitz and provided refreshments.
Training on Saturday 23rd at 11a.m. and it is also registration day so please bring membership and forms.

Junior Ladies:

The 2013 season for Fermoy Junior Ladies football started last weekend with a County league match against Glanworth in Glanworth. Our success in the last few years had meant that we are playing in higher grades each year so it was a tough start to the season against local rivals Glanworth. Also both teams played without the Fermoy Loreto players who play the All Ireland final in Nenagh on Wednesday 20th March and hopefully by the time you are reading this we will be celebrating another Loreto success.

Glanworth made a blistering start to the match and an early goal followed by a few points put the Fermoy girls under pressure. However, the Fermoy girls settled and got a few scores. At half time Glanworth were leading 1-5 to 0-5.

At the start of the second half Glanworth dominated again and put a stop to a possible Fermoy comeback. Glanworth were deadly in front of goal and took all their chances. Fermoy, on the other hand , although creating chances did not convert them and Glanworth won comfortably in the end.
