Next Friday night March 1st the girls of Aghada Ladies Football Club will celebrate their achievements in 2012 when they hold their annual social in Garryvoe Hotel. Held in Conjunction with the Juvenile section of Aghada GAA the evening promises to be a great night for all.

Last year will go down as one of the most successful in the history of the club .Our Under 10 team took the East Cork ‘B’ title. The U 12 girls won the County’ B’ Championship for the first time beating Nemo Rangers in a thrilling final. The U 14 team took the ‘D’ East Cork League and the U 16 girls won the ‘B’ East Cork Championship.

Emma Farmer and Roisin Phelan were on the Cork Senior panel who won the All Ireland Senior title and Roisin also played on the Cork Minor team who took Munster honours. Hannah Looney and Cassie Tynan were on the Cork U 16 Panel who also won the Munster title and narrowly lost out to Galway in the All Ireland Final.

The 2013 season is well under way but unfortunately Aghada have started poorly. Our U 14 girls went down to Fermoy in their first game but bounced back with a win to a very under strength Watergrasshill side in their next encounter. Our U 16 team were well beaten by Bride Rovers and last weekend by Glanmire so hopefully things will pick up as the season progresses. Girls U 12 league will start late in March with U 10and U 8s starting in April.

Our junior footballers play their first game of the season on Sunday next March 3rd against Michelstown in Rostellan at 1 pm.

Congratulations to Emma Farmer, Roisin Phelan, Hannah Looney, Christine Moran, Sarah Leahy and Aileen McGrath who have all made various Cork football panels for 2013. Best wishes also to all the girls and boys who are representing Aghada in the Scór Na bPáistí East Cork finals that are on next Friday night March 1st at 7 pm in Watergrasshill.

Training has started for all grades and is on every Monday night in Rostellan GAA grounds from 6 30 pm to 8 pm. Registration will take place in a few weeks but all girls from the parish  are invited to come down and train with us and see how you would like Ladies Football.

A very successful training course in first aid was held in the club rooms last weekend and there also are various courses in many aspects of Ladies football training available. These training courses will be ran over the next few weeks and if you are interested please contact the secretary or any member of the committee as soon as possible as these courses are county wide and places are limited.
