Erin’s Own 2.06  St. Colemans 3.01

Erin’s Own Ladies went to Cloyne on Sunday 14th to contest the Ladies U14 B East Cork Football Final V St.Colemans.
This was always going to be a close encounter and it proved to be the case. St. Colemans started brightly with and early goal but constant hard work from a very fit Erin’s Own team reaped rewards with Erin’s Own leading at the break by the minimum margin.
However, after half time it was all Erin’s Own and St. Colemans were finding it very hard to get possession. An early goal from the Erin’s own girls seemed to mark a turning point in this very hotly contested and physical encounter. As the half wore on Erin’s Own’s superior fitness was showing and though St. Colemans fought back with 2 late goals Erin’s Own always had just enough to cross the line and win this amazingly competitive game. Once again this team have proved their credentials with fitness, focus and committment being the main qualities.

Final Score: Erin’s Own 2.06  St. Colemans 3.01

This marks the completion of the Erin’s Own Ladies U14 season and what a season it was? Winning both league and championship, it doesn’t get much better than this!
Of great note and I think worth mentioning, 6 players on the team yesterday have played in their 10th final in an Erin’s Own Jersey and they have never lost. Well done Girls! Thats a fantastic record to have!

We would also like to extend our gratitude to Jim O’Neill and Cloyne GAA for the facilities provided and to referee Thomas Goggin (Inch Rovers) for his fair and impartial work. Tom only started refereeing this year and it is widely accepted that he is already one of the better referees in the county. Well done Tom.
