Under 12 B Ladies Football  East Cork League Final Aghada 2-3  Fermoy 0-2

Aghada and Fermoy served up great entertainment in the final of the U 12 B league final played in Kilworth on Friday 6th July. These sides had met earlier in the competition with Fermoy coming out on top, but it was Aghada that was victorious on this occasion on a score line of 2-3 to 0-2
From the throw in Fermoy went on the attack and opened the scoring with a Gráine Daly point in the 5th minute.  Aghada slowly found their feet, worked the ball up the field and were rewarded with a point from Lauren Lenihan in the 13th minute.  Megan Sweeney followed this up with a great point two minutes later.  It was end to end stuff for the next 10 minutes with both sets of forwards missing easy chances. Aghada were dealt a set back when their centre forward Bridget Wall suffered a serious injury and had to removed to hospital just before half time and it was Fermoy that ended this half the better with  Sarah Kenny pointing  just on the whistle to leave the teams level.
Aghada came out a much more determined side in the second half and with just a minute gone Sarah Walsh hit a bullet of a shot which was deflected off one of the Fermoy backs into the net for a goal for Aghada.  Lauren McAllister put over a point after this to leave the sea side girls well in control.
Fermoy were not going to give up without a fight and worked their way up the field on several occasions but squandered their chances with at least five wides.
With just five minutes to go Aghada sealed the deal when Megan Sweeney won a great ball on the right wing, sent it in to Sarah Walsh who in turn spotted Lauren Lenihan free and she crashed the ball to the net to leave Aghada deserving winners on a score line of 2-3 to Fermoy 0-2.
Conditions were poor and all players on both teams deserved great credit for playing a very entertaining game of football. Special mention however must go to Maeve O Callaghan, Ellen Murphy, Eve Buckley and Sarah Kenny on the Fermoy team and Claire Walsh, Aileen McGrath, Sarah Leahy, Megan Sweeney and Lauren Lenihan on the Aghada side.
