Imokilly 4-18  Liscarroll 2-11

Its been a few years since East Cork Div had an Imokilly team in the Senior C’Ship but what a return they have made!

From the start it was evident Imokilly were going to take charge of this game when Ellen Murphy pointed within the first minute and when Emma Farmer had a shot on goal brilliantly saved Ellen was there to pounce for their first goal. Liscarroll got off the mark with a point from a free but goals from Laura Crowley and a cheeky lob by Valerie Mulcahy put them ahead 3-01 to 0-01. Liscarroll rallied somewhat with 3 unanswered points before Laura Crowley, Aisling Hutchins and Emma Farmer responded with points. The goal of the game came after a move that saw Emma Farmer pick out Laura Crowley with a magnificent pass from midfield and Laura turned to hammer the ball to the net. 2 further points from Valerie Mulcahy and a fine point from wing-back Laura Cronin followed but Liscarroll kept plugging away with points of their own and struck with a goal just before half time to keep them within reach. Half time Imokilly 4-07 Liscarroll 1-08

Liscarroll were first off the mark in the second but 2 points from Valerie Mulcahy stretched Imokilly’s lead again. Lisa Curtin in the backline had a standout performance which was evident in one such attack she broke with a brilliant interception before feeding the ball up for Emma farmer to score yet again. 3 more points from Emma and 1 each for Laura Crowley, Valerie Mulcahy and Aisling Hutchins had Imokilly cruising despite the attempts of Liscarroll who struck for goal late on with a quickly taken free that caught Imokilly on the hop. Subs Cora Roche and Avril Kearney came on for Ellen Murphy and Nicole Hickey and played their part in a convincing performance by the team.

To sum up, in Goal Emma O Hagan was solid and commanded the backline throughout. The backline held well with brilliant defensive tackling, awareness of danger and communicated well with each other. The midfield pairing of Orlagh Farmer and Aisling Hutchins gelled well together and ran the length and breadth of the field all night. The forward line showed great skill with good passing and awareness of movement around them. They picked off some great points and struck for goal when the opportunity arose

All in all it was a great and promising performance by the team and credit to Orlagh Farmer, Valerie Mulcahy and Emma Farmer who had lined out the day before for Corks win over Kerry in theMunsterfinal

It’s fair to say that the management were well pleased and feel they can go a long way in this competition.
