Wednesday evening 4 th of July saw the U-16 C final replayed between Mayfield and Rockbán at Delaney’s GAA. In the first game these two sides could not be seperated but from the start Mayfield were determined to stamp their authority on this game and raced into an early lead with points from Tanya O’Mahony (2), Aimee Teegan (1) and Shauna Cronin (2) while Rockban were restricted to 2 points from frees by Rachel Hegarty and Katie Crowley. 2 goals for Mayfield from Caoimhe Rodgers and Robyn Cummins left it an uphill battle for Rockbán in the second half as the first ended 2-05 to 0-02 in Mayfields favour. Battle they did as Rockbán got on the score sheet first in the second half with a point from Rachel Hegarty followed up by a goal from Michelle Murphy then another point from Rachel Hegarty again. Mayfield could have been left to rue the amount of wides they had in the first half but this wake up call spurred them on once again. Mayfields defense held up strong after this and 2 points from Robyn Cummins could only be matched thereafter with two points for Rockbán from Rachel Hegarty for the remainder of the game. In the end Mayfield emerged winners on a scoreline of 2-07 to 1-05
