Senior Ladies Football Saturday, April 21st. Result: Bride Rovers 2-4 to Clonakilty 9pts H/T: Bride Rovers 1-3 to Clonakilty 0-4 Scorers: Grace Kearney (2-0), Jennifer Cahill (2pts), Shelly McAteer & Eleanor Ahern 1pt each. Our senior girls turned a recent league defeat to Clonakilty around when securing a one-point win in the league semi-final last Saturday and now have a league final to look forward to. Upcoming fixture : Senior League Final, venue and time to be confirmed. Junior Ladies Football Sunday, April 22nd, Baltimore Our junior team met their strongest opposition to date when we travelled to Ilen Rovers last Sunday evening. We had a depleted panel, no subs unfortunately, because of multiple injuries, illnesses and study and work commitments but our girls gave their all on the pitch. Unfortunately, we had to play some of the first half and all the second half less one player when Claire Murphy, who had impressed when on the field, had to leave with a hand injury. We had several goal chances in the first half but unfortunately had only one Elaine Culloty goal and an Aine Cashman point to show for our efforts and the second half was an uphill task thereafter. Credit nevertheless to all our girls who travelled to West Cork and who now have a home East Cork Championship tie against Mayfield to look forward to. Match Panel : Valerie Culloty, Maria Barry, Margaret Kearney, Cynthia Buckley, Imelda Dorgan, Erin O’Keeffe, Aine Cashman (0-1), Claire Murphy, Laura O’Keeffe, Sheila Walsh, Michelle Boyce, Yris Bloemhoff, Elaine Culloty (1-0). Upcoming fixtures : East Cork Championship Quarter-Final at home to Mayfield, TBD. U14 Ladies Football Monday, April 23rd, Rathcormac. Bride Rovers 2-8 Fermoy 4-20 After a promising first half when our U14s trailed group favourites Fermoy by only a goal, our challenge petered out in the second half and we were well beaten in our final league group game. The league deadline has been pushed out to accommodate teams that did not have their fixtures completed on time so we must wait for the results of some remaining games to see where we finish in the group table. An appeal of the official U14 result against Glanmire, where the referee recorded and submitted an incorrect score and cost us both points, is also being considered if necessary. Match panel : Maria O’Sullivan, Aisling Finnegan, Niamh Murphy, Sarah O’Flynn, Emma Hazelwood, Grainne Noonan, Aoife Howard, Aoife Deasy, Vivienne Cowman, Michelle Lane (1-1), Emma Roche (0-3), Nicola Murphy, Grace Culloty (0-4), Laura Quirke (1-0), Shauna O’Connell, Jessica Howard, Taylor Parle, Emma Barry, Olivia O’Sullivan. U16 Ladies Football Wednesday, April 18th Inch Rovers 2-11 Bride Rovers 4-9 What looked like a comfortable assignment at half-time, when we led by 10 points, turned into a battle in the second half when the home side made a strong recovery with the aid of the wind. Our girls kept their nerve though and scored a couple of late goals to re-establish a lead and saw the game out for a good win. Match Panel : Madison Parle, Aine Cashman, Sarah O Flynn, Margaret Kearney, , Aoife O Riordan, Trish O Sullivan, Lauren Friel, Karen Sheehan (0-1), Claire Murphy, Meg Kelliher (2-3), Katie Connor (0-3), Emma Roche (0-1), Grace Culloty (2-0), Elaine Culloty (0-1), Laura Pratt, Jessica Howard, Grainne Noonan, Maria O Sullivan Saturday, April 21st Bride Rovers 1-13 Carrigtwohill 1-0 Our U16s had a good win over Carrigtwohill in their last league game and are now in semi-final action, probably next weekend.
